CASE STUDY: Escape The City
THE PROBLEM:
London startup Escape the City successfully launched an online job board and blog to help a community of talented professionals find more fulfilling work and inspire them to make a change. But changing careers or starting a business can be hard – their community wanted help learning how to successfully transition, alongside other escapees.
MY APPROACH:
In 2014, I moved to London from the US to help Escape launch and build The Escape School. We built a physical school in the heart of London providing guides, evening talks, weekend workshops and 3-month programs to help people find more meaningful work, start businesses, and build careers on their own terms.
My work at Escape included:
New Education Product Development
Designed, launched, and managed educational products totalling £1 million revenue and impacting 20,000 people globally.
Education Facilitation
Taught 1-3 hour workshops, weekend retreats, 12-week intensives & online courses.
Community Engagement & Public Speaking
Addressed to audiences between 50 and 400+ in London, Madrid, Munich, New York City, and elsewhere.
Content Creation
Wrote and edited long-form essays, blog posts, book and videos to promote and communicate educational concepts and programs.
Sales & Marketing
Managed sales campaigns for educational products that touched over 20,000 people.
Event Management
Planning, logistics, speaking, sales and marketing for events in London, New York City and other.
THE OUTCOME:
The addition of the Escape School doubled Escape’s revenue to £1 million in 2015 and helped 20,000+ people through our events and programs in London, New York City, and abroad.
